I thank God for giving me a son

A son who I could love

A son who one day would be a man

And make his Father so proud of

But fate came in and spoiled my dreams

You turned hatred into violence

I have words I want to say to you

So be still and please, be silent

 starbright.gif (2858 bytes)

You and I we seldom talked

I felt you didn’t want me in your life

You never told me of your love for me

And this cut through me like a knife

Every time I tried to talk to you

You had other things to do

I only wanted to tell you son

Is how much I do love you

 starbright.gif (2858 bytes)

Be still my son and listen to me

There is so much I want to say

I’ll never, ever stop my loving you

Not now, nor until my dying day

With tearful eyes I say to you

Thank you for letting me have my say

Now take my blessings with you son

For the journey you take today

 starbright.gif (2858 bytes)

Oh heavenly Father please listen to me

And to what I have got to say

Today I bury my precious son

To be with you today

Please guide him with your gentle hands

Until my eyes grow weary and dim

One day I’ll rejoice in heaven

Then I can take care of him
