It Starts Today

Why is it in this day and time that we see
abuse going on, how can this be
with all that we know and all that we read
knowing exactly where this will lead

Wife with the bruises, or a clumsy child
abuse is abuse no matter how mild
If this was your child what would you say
or your parent in a home being treated this way

And if you know someone that this has happened of course
stand beside them and guide them and even remorse
The life that you save may surprise you some day
and be the one that may save you or show you the way

Be kind to your children, be kind to your wife
be kind to your brother in your walk through life
Look out for the children that might go astray
remember that abuse wasn't just thought of today
