Autism
Recently someone asked me to do a page on
Autism.
I have to admit, I've heard of it.. knew a little.. but
really didn't know how devastating it really is! All I
can do is refer anyone interested to the sites below
if they need help.
Pictured right below is Jacob. A very
handsome young
man with Autism. Nobody should have to deal with
something so debilitating as this disease. My heart goes
out to these children and their families. Hopefully some
day in the near future there will be a way out of this mess!
Thank you Diana for requesting this page. I
hope it helps
you and others get the help that is needed.

behaviors have been estimated to occur in as many as 2 to 6 in 1,000 individuals (Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention 2001). Autism is four times more prevalent in boys than
girls and knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle, and
educational levels do not affect the chance of autism's occurrence. Autism is a complex developmental disability that affects an individual in the areas of social interaction and communication. Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects each individual differently and to varying degrees of severity. As many as 1.5 million Americans - children and adults - are thought to have autism today.
