The car eased up so slowly, the teens just setting there
it seemed to come from no where, as the smoke then filled the air
The guns blasts broke the silence, most without a name
when I think about what had happened, I hang my head in shame
The child just laid there bleeding, when the smoke had cleared
a mothers worst night, her own child is what she'd feared
The innocence had been shattered, in the blinking of an eye
the child lay there bleeding, just waiting there to die
The whole thing it found was started, when one had called a name
then all hell was broken, that's when the bullets came
But the target wasn't even home, nowhere there in sight
the three year old there bleeding, didn't even know there was a fight
How do we stop the nonsense, where do we make amens
is it with the family, isn't that were it all begins
Sit down now with your children, giving love and sanity
show a little compassion, it helps as you will see
