Way back in nineteen seventy five
It was a time I well remember
A tiny bundle of joy came to us
Twas, in the happy month of September
When we got that call, from way up north
My heart, I thought had stopped
I was the happiest man alive
We had a little girl, we could adopt

We went up north and picked you up
And brought you back home to stay
The joy you brought into our house
Was more than words, could convey
The adoption papers finally came through
We was as happy as can be
Because now the picture was complete
We became one big family

The years just seem to fly on by
As I sat and watched you grow
I thanked God for this pretty angel
Who, has set my heart aglow
I remember one day I heard you say
“Hi I’m Karen, I’m the chosen one”
You were always that quick witted
To offer a saying or a pun

Then that day finally happened
You joined the adult world
Although you had become a woman
You were still daddy’s little girl
But this June 15th is different
It is also Fathers Day
So I’d like to wish, “The chosen one”
The happiest of Birthdays

Happy birthday Sweetheart
Daddy loves you very much.

You are for now ...forever ...
and for always ...Daddy's Girl....
